Over Rugby Operatic Society’s many years of performing we have staged most of the well loved Gilbert & Sullivan light operas and we continue to perform their works. As well as G&S we have also recently staged Fiddler on the Roof, Anything Goes and Orpheus in the Underworld.
We stage one show per year in February. New members are always welcome to audition to join the society. Principal roles are cast after open auditions.
Our shows are directed by a professional producer and musical director from the region and we also benefit from the expertise of the excellent backstage crew at Rugby Theatre.
Full cast rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesday nights from 7.30pm, at the Rugby Workers Club on Oliver Street with additional Principals’ rehearsals on Fridays.
After the show finishes in February we start rehearsing for our Summer Concerts.
A brief history of the society is available here.
